The more we travel through Southeast Asia, the harder we strengthen in opinion: after all, for permanent residence from all countries, Thailand is the most preferred option. The ratio of price and quality that neither say here is perfect. That's the trip to the Philippines this idea only confirmed. Yes, there is a beautiful sea, relatively inexpensive accommodation, friendly locals and delicious food.
The standard of living in the country is very low, so the boys are ready to dive into the water for the coin the dignity in the ruble-two (this is considered the beloved funny aliens).
But if this is all compared with our favorite Siam, then the Philippines immediately lose this fight thyust. Well, for example, what I have to say for each item:
- The sea here is really transparent, with a rich floral world. However, there are some terrible sea snakes (for example, Belcher's Sea Snake), the bite of which is many times more dangerous to the bite of cobra (well, that I learned this only after our return to Phuket).
The crime rate is high. Photos of this smiling guy with a guitar were hung all over the island of Mindoro.
- relatively inexpensive housing is actually not quite suitable for life with a child bungalow, where there are no air conditioners, and sometimes even hot water. Everything that looks comfortable (a landmark is our house on Phuket), it is quite European money - thousands of two or three euros per month.
- Friendly locals in particularly dark areas can easily ask Share the contents of your wallet. And it's better to do not argue with them (we were lucky to do without adventure, but a taxi driver on the way back in Manila painted a lot of similar cases).
Enough to go beyond the angle of a chic hotel to face poverty.
- Delicious food is an order of magnitude more expensive than in Thailand. Yes, and a variety of local cuisine is not famous. That is, if some Thai dishes know all over the world - from the soup "Tom Yam" to the noodle "Pad Tai", then the Philippine gourmets prefer stewed pork.
But the local rum in the Philippines is out of competition!
Plus, it is very bad here with medicine, Internet and other civilization. But most importantly - for some incomprehensible reason, all sorts of typhuses are constantly hitting the Philippines. No, you're better than us, on Phuket.
