Ask any inhabitant of our country, what kind of clothing is considered an original Russian, - and he, without thinking, will call him - Sarafan. But if you turn to the origin of this word, everything will be not so trite. The researchers have long been breaking spears, arguing where this recognizable style has come to us. There are two quite plausible versions. According to the first word "Sarafan" comes from the name of the traditional Indian clothing Sari. And although it would seem that these things look completely different, it is still possible to find similarities between them. So, and Sari, and Sarafan were a sacral robe, which was dressed at wedding ceremonies. And in that, and in another case, a red dress was chosen as a symbol of energy, sexuality and fertility. In many pictures of Russian artists, we can see outfits of scarlet. The famous romance "You do not fuck me, Mother, Red Sarafan" also describes precisely preparations for marriage. Also coincides with the fabric from which this clothing sews for solemn cases is richly decorated. By the way, in India, it was before the tibes from the finest golden or silver wire.
