Johnny Depp: "Our vampires do not look like models of underwear"

Anonim

"Johnny, you were not only the performer of the leading role, but also the producer of the film" Gloomy Shadows. " What exactly did you bring in the picture as one of her creators?

Johnny Depp: To be honest, I do not fit in my head, that I can be a producer, since this position implies the provision and organization of the workflow. I can hardly provide myself with breakfast. (Laughs.) But nevertheless, I just as a big fan of the eponymous series of the 60-70s of the 60-70s, first picked up that it would be nice to make a film about vampires, where vampires would look like vampires. It seems that it was during the filming of Susney Todd. Later we returned to this conversation, everyone had already discussed everything in more detail and in the end did what they did. Here is my contribution as a producer.

- In the series, the role of Barnabas played Jonathan Frid. Did you borrow something from him? By the way, you move your hands at all as a nasferat. Or is it a coincidence?

Johnny: Of course, I borrowed a lot from Jonathan. Moreover, it was our tasteful goal and a tribute to respect, because we both admire those series. Barnabas performed by Frida was just wonderful, very elegant, such a real classic monster. And we immediately agreed with Tim, that our film will be a kind of protest against any vampires that look like models from underwear advertising. Well, of course, in my Barnabas there is something and from Nasferat. Where without him?

- Eve, and how did you get into the project?

Eva Green: Before getting a role, I met three times with Tim. He asked me that I think about my heroine, what imagine it. And - Miracle, he took me. I was so happy that then a few days tweaked myself for all sorts of places in order to make sure it is true. Tim believed that I could also be with greetings, at all ku-ku. (Turns his finger at the temple. - Approx. Ed.) And I am very glad to this.

- And what do you think about your heroine?

Eve:

I tried everything to find an explanation why Angelica makes bad things. And found. Barnabas broke her heart, and she just wanted to take revenge. And punish, according to the principle, "if not me, then you don't get anyone anyone." After all, it is honest, many of us exactly what you want to do when we are thrown. Only there is no such possibility. And she had, here she turned Barnabas to the vampire and sharpened in the coffin.

- The action of the film is occurring in 1972. Johnny, then you were nine years old. Can you remember what they did at the time?

Johnny: In 1972? .. No, I do not remember. But I think some very strange things that did not make sense to neither then nor now.

- Eva, and how did you penetrate the spirit of the 70s?

Eva: Oddly enough, my hairstyle helped me in part. Although I was not easy to repaint my hair. The first thing I thought was: "What horror! I do not want to look like a stupid blonde! " But then I realized that this is important because the plot of the film unfolds in the 70s. And my blonde hair personifies the sun, health and happy Americans of that time. By the way, at the end of the film my appearance is greatly changing. Part of these changes were made using computer graphics, so I had to be filmed in the "capture of movement" sensors. And when I saw myself all the stoveless blue-green dots, I thought that it was similar to Smurfi, which is something incurably sick. (Laughs.)

"Johnny is a fan of the series" Gloomy Shadows ", which lay down the film. And you, Eve, saw him?

Eva: Preparing for the shooting, I, of course, looked at a few episodes. But in general, the inspiration drew more from the books of Tim Berton, which he himself gave me. Illustrations, I must say, there is very impressive. And I went to his exhibition, where various sketches are presented to its previous films, all sorts of mannequins, costumes and props. All these insane Beronic characters, broken dolls, music Jenis Joplin and the image of Bett Davis configured me to the desired way.

- What do you think people attract so in vampires?

Johnny:

It is curious because in childhood and me, and Tim too, and, I think, many others in every vampire monsters intrigued mystery, gloom, dissimilar to us. With the age, you begin to notice the erotic nature of the vampire, the attractiveness of the idea of immortality. And in Barnabas, it seems to me that these two components connected.

- Once it came about the erotic nature, how were the shooting of the love scene?

Eva: Usually before shooting love scenes, all the actors are shaking from fear. But we had fun, because we had to fly and tumble, hanging on the ropes. And for me there was no sexual subtext at all, since I am afraid of height, and during the shooting I was not to erotic experiences. I rather reminded me of a love of love between Barbie and Ken. (Laughs.) And besides, this is the first love scene in the films of Tim Berton. So I am very proud of what exactly I had the honor of playing in it.

- Johnny, and what did your first vampire bite look like?

Eva: Yes, tell me, did you like to bite a huge working and builder?

Johnny : We come back again to the erotic component? It seemed to me that I bite someone from Village People (American disco group. - ICD). Well, and seriously, I had to be very neat with my fangs, so that you really do not bother to someone. It looked like my shaving of Alan Rickman (in the film "Susie Todd ...". - Approx. Ed.), Which of us I would not like to repeat. Especially Alan.

- Johnny, and it was difficult to shoot with long nails?

Johnny: Oh, these nails! In every film that I am lucky to do with Tim, he comes up with some torture for me. So here the nails were his idea. It seemed to me that they were long with a finger. But I somehow coped. The fact is that there was a special group of people who helped me go to the restroom. Yes, they, of course, had to undergo a rehabilitation course from a psychotherapist, but now they feel much better. So everything is in order. (Laughs.)
