- Elija, a picture of "Maniac", in which you played a major role, is a remake of the same name of the 1980 thriller. Have you seen that movie?
"I heard a lot about him, but did not see." The script of the new film was passed to me through my friend. He said that the whole film will be removed from the first person; The authors want me to play a serial killer, and the audience will see me only in reflection. I was intrigued. Tell me the story of the assassin - an unusual idea. I liked the script, although I usually do not really like the idea of remakes, especially horror films remakes.
- Can you briefly tell the plot of the movie?
- This is a film about the guy named Frank, who owns the mannequin store, before owned by his mother. He kills women and removes scalps from them. And after the sea of blood, after all these murders, he suddenly falls in love with the artist named Anna, who comes into his store. He feels a certain connection between them, which he never felt in relation to other women. She opens the ability to love. With her he sees himself in the new world and, it seems to me, it feels that it is able to leave everything behind. But it is impossible because of all that he did, and who he really is. And this is his tragedy.
- Spectators see your hero only through the mirror. And then you yourself were not afraid to look in the mirror?
- No, I was not afraid. But I talked with my reflection, I still had to play a mentally non-balanced person. (Laughs.)
- Preparing for this role, did you study the biographies of some serial killers?
- At one time I read many articles and books about serial killers. It was interesting to me from the point of view of psychology. But during the preparation for the shooting, I did not use some particular character for the guideline. This is rather a collective image created by me according to my impressions from the one read sometime.
- If you met the maniac in your life, what would you do?
"Probably, would run from all his feet so that he could not catch up with me." (Laughs.) Although in our life so many maniacs that you will not run away from everyone.
- Yes, news from the USA has recently frighten the frequency of armed attacks. Do you have a weapon?
- No, I do not need it. (Smiles.) But in general it is a very serious topic. And there are two sick questions. The first - relative to the introduction of restrictions on weapons. I personally think that free access to weapons, when any child can hardly get a machine, is not quite normal. The second one comes from this thrust to violence. And here you need to study the psyche, to learn in the very initial stage to recognize the problems of mental health that can grow into something terrible. In the spread of violence very often blame movies, music, media. But I do not see here interconnections. It seems to me that this is a beaten argument, which only leads because they cannot find other, true reasons.
- And are you going to look for these reasons with your future films? I know that you like a producer started working on the picture "Henley" about a 9-year-old sociopathic, which has discovered a passion for murder. How did it happen that the most famous hobbit in the world became interested in Gorror genre?
- I was a fan of Gorror genre since childhood. And long dreamed of becoming a producer. At some point, these two components were connected, and my friends and I organized woodshed production company, which will specialize exclusively on thrillers. Now we have several paintings in the production. Recently completed the work on the film called "The girl walking home in late at night" - the first Iranian film about vampires, filmed entirely on Farsi. Soon we will start shooting a picture of "Versh", the co-author of which is Wonnell, known for scenarios to "saw" and "Astra". I will play the role of the teacher who will have to fight with students who have infected with a mysterious virus and turned into a zombie. And yes, work began on the film "Henley", which is based on the Shortythrower of the same name, shown at the Sandens independent cinema film festival. But my terrible films do not reflect me entirely. As an actor, I am still open to any suggestions. So do not think that now I will be removed only in thrillers.
- And as a person you not only play movies. In Moscow, you managed to play a DJ set. And what else did you have time? Are you for the first time? What did you like, what was surprised?
- I have never seen so many beautiful women in one place. I seemed to be in the parallel universe. Russian girls are the most beautiful in the world. This is true, do not laugh, I just state the fact. (Laughs). Yes, in Moscow I first time. My profession implies frequent travels, I have been a lot wherever. But most often I do not have enough time to see everything. And I managed to come to Russia for several days. I visited Red Square and in the Kremlin. These are very famous sights, I have seen them in a movie, on TV, in photos. But go here personally - something amazing. I even rode on the rink on the Red Square - it was fun. Walked over the old streets. I looked at different monuments. Most of all I was shocked by the monument to the first person, visiting space. Although you need to admit, your entire story of the conquest of cosmos is very interesting to me. I visited the bar stylized under Soviet times. I tried a vodka there, I received a classic Russian experience. (Laughs.)

- And on the shopping time left?
- Yes, I bought several vinyl records. True, mostly English and American. But one plate of the Soviet group of the 70s is electronic space music (Syntipop-Group "Zodiac". - Ed.).
- Have a lot of money spent?
- No, not much. A couple of hundred dollars.
- Here it is, your personal manic passion is music.
- Yes, in this regard, I am a maniac. I buy a lot of records. I am a fan of music.
- What?
- Any. I listen absolutely everything, from dance to psychedelic, soul and funk. I love ethnic music from France, Turkey, Indonesia, Brazil ...
- And sing themselves?
- Let's say so - I can sing. I get into the motive. But still I sing mostly only in the car, when no one hears me when I am alone. (Laughs.)
- Your hero in the picture is very lonely. Do you know the feeling of loneliness?
- No, I never come alone. I love loneliness, but not in the global sense, but I just like to stay alone. Fortunately, I have many friends and loved ones. And I feel their care and support. So I was lucky: love surrounds me in life.
