Army Hummer: "Now in the mask I am known more than without it"

Anonim

- Army, what feelings did you experience when you were approved for the role of a single ranger?

- Wild delight. We rested with my wife on the bugs, when I brought a note: "Call Brandon (this is my agent). It is very important!". And so, by phone, during the holidays, just returning from the beach, I learned the joyful news. It was probably one of the happiest moments in my life. For America, this hero is part of culture, a character whom many know since childhood. So playing him was a great honor. Well, of course, work with people like Mount Verbins, Jerry Brookheimer and Johnny Depp - this is a dream, which, fortunately, became a reality.

- Did you immediately find a common language with Johnny? Have you had any common topics for conversation in addition to filming the movie?

- Johnny - one of the coolest guys from those I know. In addition to the fact that a professional, he is kind, attentive, herself. Always remembers all by name. You know, he is not at all what people imagine him. Very simple, quite ordinary person. But always keeps his hand on the pulse and know what is happening in the world of movies, music, literature, art. Therefore, it is easy to find a common language with it, as you can chat about anything. We really became friends with him. And it's great! (Smiles.)

- Part of my childhood you spent on the ranch and already knew how to ride a horse. You probably did not make it difficult to sit in the saddle on the set?

"Yes, indeed, in my childhood I had a happy opportunity to get acquainted with horses, learn to ride them. But my past equestrian walks do not go to any comparison with what I had to go through the shooting. Three weeks before the start of work on the picture we went to New Mexico. There was an organized camp, where we studied not just to sit in the saddle, but to perform various tricks: jump, throw a lasso, fall from the horse, shoot from pistols. Our mentors were joking that they would train us until the city bloated to the damn mother. (Laughs.) I must say that I used to shoot before: on the ranch we looked at the boys by shooting banks. But undergo training from professionals is much more interesting. Especially in order to go to shoot with friends and show how cool I can do them. (Laughs.) And in that camp we paid great attention to cardiotrans, because we knew that we were waiting for long, tedious shootings, during which you need to stay in the form.

- After filming, there was no desire to buy a horse?

- And with my wife already have horses. But I do not think that on our ranch in Texas I will pull the same thing as in the movie. It is unlikely that I want to jump on the roof of the train. It is enough for me to just ride the field or along the path in the forest.

- You yourself performed tricks?

- Yes.

- Everything?

- All that director, producer and insurance company allowed us. For example, in the scene, where the train comes from the rails and we fly to the ground with Johnny Kubarem, we were not allowed to do the trick themselves. But otherwise we tried to do everything themselves.

- And behind the horse on earth, they also dragged themselves?

- Yes, and I didn't like it terribly. Although, it seems to me that it will not like anyone. Except maybe the horse itself.

"You somehow joked that the film was filmed in the" very center of nothing. " Where is it "nothing" is?

- As I was told, we shot in the most unclosed land. And there really did not have anything: neither stores, no gas stations, no cafe - nothing. The nearest settlement with the hotel was a five-six-hour drive by car. So I needed to take me. It was a very deaf place. But at the same time, the most beautiful of those where I have ever been. The place where the person's foot did not step up the last few hundred years, untouched, unspoiled. On earth, you could see the remains of local Indians who lived there many centuries ago. We, of course, did not touch them, treated with great respect in order not to disturb the spirits of the ancestors.

- It was not scary to be away from civilization?

- Maybe just a little bit. And once an incredible story happened to me. Somehow at night I sat near the fire in a camp, because every day ride the hotel lacked forces. There was a pitch darkness, and I just enjoyed silence, looking at the stars. How suddenly I saw a little old woman. She came out from somewhere out of the dark. She did not speak English, only in Navajo language. I, of course, I'm not talking in Navajo language. She looked at my bonfire, at me. I offered her to sit down, gave my food. She frowned. I say: "Sorry, but I don't have anything else." Then she turned around and gone. I stayed in bewilderment. But half an hour later she returned with a large flat stone on which something was lying. I sat next to me. I did not talk, did not even look at me. Then put his stone in the center of the fire. We sat a little more, looked at the stone. I did not understand what was going on. And then she began to prepare what he brought with him. On this stone, on my fire. After we filed a typical meal of Navajo - bread, corn, potatoes ... and, you must confess, it was very tasty.

- Your hero goes into a mask. And you never wanted to wear a mask, hide from people?

- Well, just when I robbed the bank. Or on Halloween. I understood what you ask about. Now there is no such thing, but at school, especially in high school, I often appeared such feelings. Although, it seems to me, many teenagers are familiar with such sensations.

- Perhaps now, after the premiere, you will have to hide from fans?

- Unfortunately, I wear a mask in the film so much time that I will recognize more in it than without it. (Laughs.)

- In the film "Social network" you played businessmen, twin brothers Wincloss. In the picture "Snow White: Revenge of the Dwarfs" - Prince. Here - Ranger. And in life you are more who: a man with a business grip, a prince, a fighter with lawlessness?

- Probably Ranger. Because I would like to think about myself as a person who knows how to make the right decisions. The twins are not at all like me, but the more interesting was to play them. And the prince? Well, what of me the prince? No, I'm not at all. (Laughs.)
