By the way, my yard is just opposite the Odessa film studio, On the French Boulevard. There I spent the first ten years of my life. But I looked there much later. Of course, there everything is already old, small ... and the film studio has changed. In my childhood, she was prosperous, actively worked, was overflowed by people. And talented. There, the stars of time went on the corridors - Vasily Shukshin, Vladimir Vysotsky ... Today, of course, this is a collapsed structure in decline.
"Your father, Peter Efimovich, lived a long, happy, very correct life ... He belongs to the generation that we admire, say that these people are a completely different warehouse ... In the current generation, you see large-scale personalities, is there a reason for optimism?
- When a person begins to say that the people crushed around the people, he makes a mistake. Every generation seems to be the best. But in every generation, after all, there are one's grand individuals, and, while we did not finally degenerate, everything is not so bad.
- But almost every second generation now calls himself lost, and all torments the crisis of middle age. This problem is Donimal and Pechorina, and the heroes of the "duck hunting" tapes, "flights in a dream and reality", and the teacher from your picture "Geographer Globe Propil." I wonder if you have such dark periods and how did you cope with them?
- This is too personal question, and I'm not sure that I need to answer it. But, on the other hand, maybe, like many people, I live in a constant condition of the crisis. And to the middle age crisis, this feeling has nothing to do. Just certain creative doubts, and it is hardly worth going out of them. And the story told in the cinema is understandable to me, it's not by chance that she hooked me. And here there is another question, what kind of people I love in this world. So here is the hero of Konstantin Khabensky, such a Victor Ministry of Commerce, I love. And similar to him too. On the screen, a man drinks vodka for two hours, falls in love with a schoolgirl, finds out the relationship with his wife, then she changes her, but I suppose that he does not lie, does not betray, does not make palls, does not steal, and he is a real intelligent. I knew such people, met with them, and I am sure that they are the conscience of the nation. It is unreasonable to believe that the conscience of the nation is always some scenic saints. Conscience happens with sins. The main basis here.
- How director, what are you "sick" today?
- A week ago, finished the twelve-player film for TV, and this work was very important to me. I would even say that today there is more interesting television than movies. In the movie, it is harder to show human stories, it is increasingly turning into an attraction, in a spectacle, in the show, and television leaves a niche, where you can tell about people chamber, calmly, in detail. It attracts me.
- You for the third time I became a father already in rather mature age. Did it turn you into a crazy daddy?
No, I am for this too busy person, many are loaded. True, it does not mean at all that I am bad dad. I just have enough wife to love. And I definitely read the daughter of the book for the night.

- Zhenya, in this film you are already completely different than in our previous works - in "Tiska", "Styles". Did your worldview changed during this time?
- I had a child four years ago, and I didn't take the first two years at all, I was sitting with my daughter, so I don't know if I grew up like an actress ... my heroine in the "geographer ..." is not enough, and it is always difficult. But there were full-fledged scenes in which I could manifest myself.
- Recently, as I understand it, you are more mom and wife ...
- Yes, although for years for two years I remove it quite actively, literally live in airplanes. So, last year five projects took place at once. Probably the most interesting is the Russian "Dark World. Equilibrium". Then I starred in America in a short film, which was recently shown in the Madrid Film Festival, and she took a prize for the best director. In addition, I was filmed from the Irish director. There is still one military picture ... so I do not complain about the lack of work. (Smiles.)
- Many of your rough-colleagues are focused on a career in the West and purposefully move towards it. Do you have plans in this sense?
- Not. When there were our film "Styles" in the cinemas, they were suitable for me and asked: "Don't you have your agent here and you are not doing our own promotion at all?!" But not! There is no certainty that it is real: there is full of their artists. And by and large to starve in Hollywood, not necessarily live there. When you are looking for a certain type, then come to Russia and make samples here. It's good that some interest in Russian artists in the world appeared, but I still have a pessimist in this sense. (Smiles.) And in this American short filler I got completely accidental. It was covered by familiar young guys, the actors who wanted to try themselves in the director, they offered me a role, and I agreed. It was curious, only and everything.
- I know that now basically you live in Los Angeles. How do you feel there, quickly got up?
- I still live on two houses. I work more often in Russia, but resting there, I do it all day. Of course, the ocean is fine, warm. When I lay down a child to sleep, I watch your favorite films, reading books, this is the greatest pleasure ... Quickly get used to the fact that people are smiling with you, very gently belong to children, and someone else. Large difference with Russia ...
- Did the daughter speak in two languages?
- We communicate exclusively in Russian at home, but it is located in the American environment since birth, instantly grabs everything, so now interferes with the words. I suppose that later it will happen by itself this division into two languages.
- In what profession do you see her in the future?
- Personally, I will never press it. One grandfather she had a creative man; Another, my dad, - mathematician, so she has a lot of development paths. But now it is her interest in music that is striking everyone. And over the year she began. As soon as she learned to stand, as he was already in front of the TV and could not tear off from the channel of classical music "Mezzo", tried to repeat the movement of the conductor. At his younger age, she already knows all American musicals. It is like an attraction: from any place she can start singing, not even understanding words.
- And you yourself love to sing, and in the previous interview, I confessed that you dream to play in the musical. Have you done the desired yet?
- While I sing in movies. Here in Irish sang, for example. And we shot this scene in Moscow, at the bottom of the city, I went to the scene in the park named after Gorky and sang. Spectators did not even understand that we remove the movie; Thought, an ordinary concert, very warmly took me. And now I am shooting and singing ...
- I can not ask about your work with Konstantin Khabensky in the film "Geographer Globe Propil." For the first time you met him on the TV series "Philip Bay", so you have to have a coordinated alliance. With it easy in the frame?
- Not that word! In every film with the bones to remove! It is so harmoniously combined with professionalism, and human wonderful qualities ... He helps you so touchingly, not very selfish.
