- What do you like most in Gandalfe?
- It is extremely rarely issued to play a character who does not just try to be good, but is such. It is believed that for the actor the best role is the role of the villain. And I was played to play negative heroes and on stage and in the cinema. But in Gandalfe there is nothing villainous, it is an excellent example for imitation for young people. He is all loved, because he is always on the side of the Mediterranean. This is his job and he tries to fulfill her for a hundred. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he always moves by good intentions. - Probably hobbits. Imagine them with fabulous characters, but ordinary people on the street. They are simple, weak, cowardly, slightly greedy, little lazy, like most of us. However, Tolkien and Gandalf were able to see loyalty and devotion in the Hobbits. They can be brave and persistent that they have inner strength. You only need to give them a reason to show yourself. - How did your relationship with Martin Freiman, playing Bilbo?
- I am a big fan of his work, not only and not so much in the movie as on stage. I'm watching his work for many years. So get to know Martin and make friends with a great honor for me. He is very, very talented actor. It is worth noting, his game was always highly appreciated, and did the right thing. And I am giving great pleasure to watch him on the set. There is one only "but". It is extremely difficult to play a high character among shorter, such as hobbits or gnomes. For technical reasons, we have to play a scene or separately, or, let's call, at different levels. And no such important for the actor of the visual contact. It seems to me to see Martin in the image of Bilbo in my eyes, I managed to just a couple of times. I had the same in working with Elaidge Wood, who played Frodo in the "Lord of the Rings".
